Gion Festival in Kyoto

We are in Kyoto at the perfect time! Their biggest festival of the year is occurring now, Gion Matsuri. Matsuri means festival. Everyone dresses up in kimono and strolls the streets. It is crowded like Times Square in New Year's Eve! The festival float parade is on July 17th and the very large floats are currently on display throughout our neighborhood! We were able to go inside a float tonight...

Some of the streets a closed down to cars and people fill the streets. There are food and drink vendors lining the side streets. I had a wonderful street sandwich of noodles and egg...

Location:Kyoto, Japan
